2008-2009

Stephanie Tubby Makes Verbal Committment to University of Arkansas

Stephanie Tubby Stephanie Tubby is a senior at JJ Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas. Her fast pitch softball career began in Carthage, Mississippi at 7 years old. She has worked very hard over the years to become the best player and teammate that she could be. She has been a pitcher for several years; however she has gained valuable experience at multiple positions. Versatility is one of her strongest attributes and she prides herself on being able to get the job done regardless of where her coaches place her. Currently she is the starting catcher for the high school varsity team. She has a pop time of 1.7 seconds. She plays 3rd base for her select teams. She has a very reliable bat and manages to find a way to get on base. Stephanie has been fortunate to keep her entire batting average for the calendar year to .508 (all school, league, select, and tournament games) with a 68% on base ratio. Her average speed is 2.8 seconds from home to 1st. She has a great attitude, eagerness to learn, hustle and determination! She has excelled in Volleyball and Basketball over the years as well. She has had great experiences competing in Holland, Hawaii, Mississippi, Colorado, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Texas.

She received awards as a sophomore for MVP with 2 "No-Hitters". During her junior year she was selected as a member for the 2nd All District 10-4A team as a catcher. She was recently invited to play for a USA team coached by Jennifer Kernahan which will participate in the Buenos Aires Goodwill Series in Buenos Aires, Argentina from June 2-10, 2009. She was also invited to play on a Texas team coached by Shannon Gower which will participate in the "King Kamehameha Softball Classic" from June 16-23, 2009, held in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Stephanie recently made a verbal commitment to attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in order to achieve her college aspirations while playing NCAA Division I softball in the SWAC. Her letter of intent will be signed in April. Coach Tim Munn has high expectations for her to come in 2009-2010 as starting 3rd base. This game is her passion and she is very blessed to be living her dream!

Natasha Signs Letter of Intent with Western Texas College

Natasha Natasha started playing softball during the spring of 7th grade when her best friend Stephanie asked her to play. She started on the Angels playing in the outfield. Before the season was over Natasha started playing catcher and even pitched 2 innings striking out 3 girls. She was the catcher her 8th grade season.

As a freshman Natasha was on the Pearce JV team where she started in the outfield half the time. As a sophomore Natasha moved up to Varsity. Toward the end of her sophomore year Natasha began to switch hit. She worked hard over the summer and fall to become a full time left side hitter. Her hard work paid off in March of her junior year; Natasha was the 4A hitting leader in the Dallas area. Natasha finished the year with an honorable mention award in the district.

As she gets ready to play her final year at Pearce, Natasha has accepted a scholarship to play softball, for Coach Steve Kissel, at Western Texas College in Snyder, Texas.

Laura Loughmiller Signs Letter of Intent with East Central University - Ada, Oklahoma

Laura LoughmillerLaura Loughmiller, a senior at J.J. Peace High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball for the East Central University Tigers of Ada, Oklahoma. As a member of the Tigers softball squad, she will be competing in the Lone Star Conference beginning with the 2009-2010 season.

Laura, who has lettered three years for the Mustangs, was recruited for her speed and left handed slapping and line drive hitting ability which she displayed last year while batting leadoff for the Mustangs. Originally a right handed batter, Laura made the transition to hitting from the left side after her freshman season.

Laura is also a versatile defensive player who has played numerous defensive positions, for the Mustangs, including pitcher, first, second, and third base. For her senior season, Laura has been penciled in at shortstop where as she hopes to help lead the Mustangs to the playoffs.

Softball honors include being named District Newcomer of The Year as a freshman, named to the All District Team her sophomore year, and First Team All District third base her junior year.

Laura, whose sister Julia was a pitcher and lettered four years for the Mustangs from 2002-2005, plans to pursue an early childhood education degree at East Central.

2007-2008

Ashley Schmidt Signs Letter of Intent with Grayson County College

Ashley Schmidt Ashley Schmidt, a 2006 graduate of J. J. Pearce and two year starter for the Varsity Softball team, signed a letter of intent in June with Grayson County College, a NJCAA Division I school.

Ashley joined the squad for workouts beginning in early August. The team also competed in a rigorous 16 game fall schedule, which included round robin tournaments in Durant, OK and Paris, TX, where the team of freshman and sophomores battled with Division III University squads as well as NJCAA Division I competition.

Ashley is playing first base, as she did for the Mustangs, as well as seeing time behind the plate as the back-up catcher.

Grayson is in the North Texas Conference of NJCAA Region V and has enjoyed success with a strong baseball program. With a new coach this season Grayson is working to do the same with softball in this competitive conference.

Ashley is working towards an Associates Degree in Forensic Science and hopes to pursue her scholastic and softball career at one of Texas' fine four year universities.

Rachael Grimes Commits to Play for Angelo State University

Rachael Grimes Senior Rachael Grimes has had an eight year goal of playing softball at the college level. After countless numbers of games and tournaments, Rachael has realized her goal and is now continuing her softball career by committing to play for Angelo State University. Rachael looks forward to being a part of Angelo State's winning softball program. Rachael made a brave comeback last spring after suffering a serious facial injury from a line-drive ball in February. After major facial surgery, Rachael returned to the field just one month later and finished the season 3rd in District 10-5A batting averages. She was also named to the First Team All District and was awarded Pearce Offensive MVP.
